What is your car worth?
There are two ways you can figure out what your car's worth. But first, when would you want to put a dollar value on your car? It's simple: if you know how much to ask for, you can sell it yourself, without a dealer. Kelly Blue Book
Maybe you want to sell your car, or maybe you're on the market to buy a car. You may have loads of questions already; questions about financing, insurance, certification, alternative fuels, safety, or prices. Want to see what kind of financing and insurance deals you can get? Ever wondered about 'certified' pre-owned cars? Want to know more about hybrid fuels? Want to know different cars' safety crash test results? Want advice to you when you put your car on the market? Want advice when you make a bid on a new or used car? Turn to the 'Blue Book' for great answers to these and similar questions. The Blue Book also provides values for motorcycles, great advice on how to protect yourself from fraud, and reviews and ratings for different makes, models, and vehicles. You can likely find a copy at the closest public library; there are also on-line editions so that you can search values for cars manufactured during 1982 and previous years. Want to know what cars individual markets love? You can find out which is the most-researched car, by zip code. All you have to do is click through to find out answers to the questions that puzzle you. National Auto Research Black Book
Sometimes, if you have time and patience, selling your car on your own is worth the hassle. Car dealers have turned to the Black Book published by the National Auto Research (NAR) ever since 1955, to track prices for cars from the factory floor to the junkyard. Reporting from the wholesale auctions, the Black Book is considered the most accurate price guide to the industry. The Black Book publishes Dealer Invoice and Manufacturers' Suggested Retail Prices for new cars, and then classifies used cars according to four grades: 'extra clean,' 'clean,' 'average,' or 'rough;' as well as by mileage, options, and price. Weekly, monthly, bimonthly and annual guides to prices help industry specialists to follow the external factors effect on used car prices; they also provide loan values for finance purposes, and VIN interpretations for selected makes and models. While you can find that some public libraries subscribe to the print edition, the NAR also offers dealers software and electronic databases. |
