2007 Honda CR-V
Overview   Specifications

If you have not seen the 2007 Honda CR-V I suggest you go to your local Honda dealer and take a look. The 2007 CR-V is as striking as it is classy. It is sleek and elegant and quiet honestly one of the most attractive cars released in the 2007 lineup.

Although the look of the Honda CR-V has completely changed, there are some aspects that have remained the same. Honda did not add a V6 engine or third-row seat because they want the CR-V to remain lightweight and compact. There are added safety features, amenities, sound-proofing and a rigid platform that creates a smoother ride.

The Exterior

The CR-V has been radically transformed from a boxy, almost boring, SUV to a stunning, luxurious SUV whose beauty clearly competes with Lexus' RX LUV. In fact, the 2007 CR-V's exterior appears to have surpassed the beauty and sleekness of the RX. The word stunning may be an understatement. The new CR-V is classy and could easily replace the smaller, more expensive SUV's available today.

We all know how important the size of one's wheels has become and it appears that Honda aims to please. The 2007 CR-V includes large 17-inch wheels and these tires are a standard feature on all of the trim levels. The new CR-V is slightly wider, 1.4 inches, and is its length has been reduces by 3.1 inches.

The Interior

Well, there is no doubt that the exterior is stunning. However, the interior has a luxurious feel and it will spoil you with amenities. The new CR-V has a sleek, modern and high-tech interior. This is not your typical Honda interior. Whether you get the additional features or not, the interior is gorgeous.

The interior now has wider seats and an updated retractable center tray table. The midlevel EX includes an auxiliary audio jack within the center tray and 12-volt outlet. The 2007 CR-V has optional audio system upgrades such as auxiliary input jacks for MP3 players. The EX also offers a duel-deck cargo shelf in the cargo area and the upper deck can hold up to twenty pounds.

The EX-L offers the optional Honda-Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ with voice recognition and a rearview camera. The rearview camera allows you to see what is behind you and this technology has been credited for saving the lives of many small children. The navigation system features a 6.5 inch screen that moves to allow access to a single-disc DC player and an MP3 auxiliary input jack. If you choose the Navigation option you also get a 6-disc CD changer, a 270 watt 7 speaker system, and a subwoofer.

The 2007 CR-V is still a 5-passanger vehicle. Some feel Honda should have added a third-row seat, but Honda feels that the CR-V should remain a smaller and more efficient vehicle. The Honda Pilot is available for those that need more seating.

Safety

What has not changed is the CR-V's dedication to safety. However there some new safety features: the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) Body Structure and six standard airbags for all of Honda's trim levels. ACE is designed to better manage the energy that results from frontal collisions and increase the compatibility between vehicles of varying sizes and bumper heights. ACE also disperses energy away from the passenger area by utilizing crumple zones more effectively.

More Power, But Still Efficient

Honda has given the same engine to all trim levels of the 2007 CR-V. Honda's 2.4-liter DOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder produces 166 horsepower with a 16 lb-ft of torque with a standard 5-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy for the 2WD will be 23 in the city and 30 on the highway; the 4WD will be 22 city and 28 highway. The new CR-V achieves CARB LEV II ULEV standards for their low emissions engine.

The 2007 CR-V is light-weight and quick. It offers a very quiet interior at all speeds due to the new rigid platform and new noise and absorption materials that have applied to virtually every part of the interior. The new platform adds an increased feeling of stability, balance and control. However, the added width, low center of gravity and the additional wheelbase length are also contributing factors to the increased feel of stability.

What an Improvement

Many car manufacturers have changed the exterior of their most popular vehicles for 2007. Not all the changes have been positive. In fact, some are downright unattractive, but the 2007 Honda CR-V has crushed the competition. The exterior has made such a massive transformation you will most likely not believe you are looking at a CR-V. The pictures truly do not do it justice. It is weird to describe a Honda as stunning, but this vehicle is stunning. Honda has created an SUV that is affordable, fuel efficient and as attractive as any of the high-priced, smaller SUVs available today.

Once you look at the new CR-V you will want to test drive it and the ride is as smooth as it is quiet. Mothers that need their small children to remain asleep will love this vehicle. The new high-tech, luxurious interior is a fantastic bonus. Consumers can choose from a large selection of new available amenities and create the SUV of their dreams. There is really nothing better than having an SUV with low emissions, outstanding fuel economy, beauty and a smooth ride. Visit your local Honda dealership soon. The CR-V may become as hard to get as the Honda Odyssey use to be.
